How to be a Great Teacher

Becoming a teacher is not an easy job. The responsibilities of a teacher are much greater than what we normally realize. The future of your students is in the palms of your hands as you teach them what you learned over the years both from research and experience. As a teacher, a great part of your life is opening up to your students as you share with them something of utmost value, knowledge. It’s not easy to learn, it’s even harder to teach! Sadly, sometimes students do not learn as much as you expect, why is this so? Well, there are a lot of factors that may affect this situation but we aren’t going to talk about that. Instead, we’ll talk about the different ways you can improve yourself as a teacher.

Here are a few ways for you to become a great teacher:

1. Connect
The best thing a teacher can do for his students is remember them. Extend your efforts in getting to know each and every student in your classroom. This is one of the best ways to motivate students, make them feel like they are part of the class. This may be hard because of the number of students in your classroom at a time. But if you are able to remember each and every one of them, this definitely motivates them to work harder.

2. Entertain
Learn how to entertain your students. Laughter is the best way to connect with someone. When someone definitely laughs at your jokes or humor, they instantly feel a little more comfortable around you. Laughter isn’t everything though. There are so many different ways to entertain your students. Although this is a great tactic to catch their attention, make sure not to overdo this as it might end up distracting them from what you are actually teaching. Have a good balance of humor and seriousness.

3. Follow up
Knowledge doesn’t stop in the classroom. Who said you can’t be teaching students after class? One thing that most people don’t realize is that their students, once out of the classroom, are just normal people. You can make a friend or two with your students. This would be a great way for them to remember what they’ve learned and even continue to learn even after class is over.

There are so many ways to become a better teacher but we feel like these three are the best. There are a lot of teachers out there with really creative tactics to ensure that their students learn the most from them as possible. Some teachers are really fortunate because they have good students in their class which makes the learning process easier but this is not always the case.
